Volunteer
Are You Interested in Helping SAIL Help Others?
Please complete an online volunteer application and someone will contact you within a few days to discuss volunteer opportunities.
We are looking for volunteers to help periodically in these areas:
Projects – Such as mailing preparation, folding, labeling and stuffing envelopes; helping at events like fundraisers; meal help including set up, serving others and clean up; or yardwork at SAIL such as weeding and mowing.
Systems Advocacy – These volunteers are trained by our ADA Compliance Officer to notice accessibility problems in our community, such as inaccessible public buildings or improper signage, and then advocate for systems changes.
Disability Rights Advocacy – These volunteers are made aware of local, state or national issues and legislation which affect those who are aging or have disabilities. They are then guided to advocate to local, state or national officials through letters, completing surveys, emails, phone calls, and personal visits, or group trips to advocacy events.
Peer Supports – Having ongoing contact with a person with a disability who needs someone to talk with about life situations.
Leadership – Such as the SAIL Board, SAIL Advisory Council, fundraising committee or decorating committee.
Please note that these volunteer roles require filling out a SAIL employment application, being interviewed for the role and submitting to a background check. These roles include data entry, filing, shredding, communications and reception.
